Gentlemen,
With reference to your letter of the 12th ult., I am directed to inform you that the case Chau Tik, alias Chan Ning alias Ching Sam has been carefully considered by the Governor in Council, who is of opinion that the evidence in the case does not warrant the rendition of the accused to the Chinese Government; and that H.E. has ordered his discharge accordingly.
